SE01 – LC8c versus LC4, warum die LC8c die bessere Basis für das World Traveler Bike ist?

Three, two, one – Action! Hello. Hello. Today my friend Tommy is with me and we got here two beautiful bikes for you. To my right, on which Tommy took place is our KTM 790 Adventure R, Ultimate World Traveler Bike Project. And I am sitting here, many of you might recognize it, the Lightweight Adventure Rally Bike Project. We placed both bikes togehter for
Die beiden haben wir aus einem a certain reason. Many of you sent us the question why we went for a current 790 (LC8c) as basis for our Ultimate World Traveler Bike Project and not for a current KTM 690 Enduro (LC4) Well, there are several reasons, founded in the contrary concepts of both bikes. Most important, and good to know is, that LC4 is sourced on a rally bike. LC4 has a frame based on tubes in grid layout, with and engine, sources from a rally bike to series production. This results in a very stiff and rugged frame in which the engine is placed, a single cylinder of course, in contrary, the 790 was developed and designed a successor of 950 and 990 Adventure and SuperEnduro and therefore designed as a series bike from the first moment. This results in advantages in construction as they considered an offroad orientate travel bike from the very beginning what is being missing regarding the LC4 design. Now about riding bike, starting with suspension. We have different suspensions. This (LC4) is a 2017 bult with 4CS forks, current model has got XPLOR forks, which is basically comparable to the Adventure (LC8c), but they differ in suspension travel, LC8c got 240mm while LC4 has 275 mm. More important, they differ in thir suspnesion configuration reasonable. The LC8c is configured for offroad riding, while the LC4 has got a more sports orientated setup allow amateur rally riding. It was clear goal of the
Das war auch eine ganz wichtige Zielsetzung LARB Project, to build a bike for Adventure
von dem (LARB) Projekt, es soll Adventure and amateur and hobby rally riding. Goal of the 790 project is, to built a bike, which is perfect to traveling long distances, going once around the world. At this point we can unveil some secret. We are planning, it is not dicided finally, to get the bike transported
das Vorhaben steht noch nicht ganz fest, das Fahrzeug to Ulan Bataar (Mongolia) within the next two years, take a plane there and ride home the whole distance passing all the different countries, the exact route is not decided yet, back home to Austria. We are talking about 15.000 km, 2 months, 60 days. And we have to be clear, such track will be on bad roads, sometimes short broken sections, by 80 % will on not so good roads. and long distances. For this purpose the by far more comfortable and steady 790 wins in compare to 701 without doubts. The number of section, at which a LC4 would be an advantges will be few on such a trip. An that are the reasons, why we have decided 790 as basis, and not for LC4. Having a look on the engine, we have got here on the LC4 74 HP Single Cylinder, need some RPMS to push forward on the track, while LC8c has got a 2-Cylinder engine, pushing well from low RPMS. Wich allows comfortable and more relaxed riding with the 2-Cylinder engine. The LC8c has 95 HP and higher torque. Last but not least, we have to mention, that supply for travel products an accessoires is by far better for 790 than for LC4 models. That has several reasons, forst of all the LC8 bike was designed for traveling. Bit – and that needs to be admitted as well – a lot more LC8c are sold resulting in better attractiveness for suppliers to develop solutions and systems for the LC8c bike. Mounting pannier boxes to the Husqvarna results in some research work and manual adaption efforts, to come up with a really professional solution. At the time for 790, get the OEM pannier rack, boxes – done. Pack roll and hit the road. It takes reasonable less efforts to transform 790 into travel setup This results in the conclusion, that LC8c will be our Ultimate World Traveler Bike. Feel free, whenever questions occur on the compare, to share them with us. We will explain the differences between the bikes, and share our insight in further video reports We wish you a lot of fun with upcoming videos, and wouldn´t it be that cold, Tommy and myself would go for a ride now. Have a lot of fun and Bye. Bye.
